Esso & Anavgai villages are home to Even people and Russians numbering fewer that 5000 inhabitants. Anavgai, population 1300 people, was settled in the 1950's and 1960's when the government gathered the Even from their tundra reindeer herding grounds and settled them in the village. With funds provided by UNDP, "Menedek" cultural center has been built in Anavgai, providing focal point for preservation of Even traditions and inspiring participation by nearly the entire population. Visitors are welcome daily to the center where at least one Even family is in residence all the time. They process reindeer’s skins, make native clothes, prepare native dishes, dances and sing native songs. This is the place where you can fill yourself visiting past times of Kamchatka more then 200 years ago.                                                         
Esso is in 20 km from Anavgai. Here one can enjoy the sights of wooden houses, gardens of local people who grow vegetables even in wintertime using the warmth of natural hot springs. Esso has one of the finest museums in Kamchatka, the Bystrinsky District Ethnographical Museum.
